About Bonnie:

Bonnie has practiced various forms of Yoga for many years and has spent the past seven years devoted to the study of Yoga. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher and obtained her R.Y.T certification with Bhavani Girard and Sierra Center for Yoga Studies. Bonnie’s training is traditional Raja Yoga, and she practices a gentle Hatha Yoga flow that focuses on quieting the mind through Yoga poses (asanas) and focused breathing (pranayama). She has gained experience participating in various workshops including study with Tai Sheridan and Dharma Yoga teachings, Yin Yoga teachings with Paul Grilley, Awareness Meditation with Dean Hudson of Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, and through a variety of classes in the community including Hatha Yoga classes at Sierra College.

“After studying Yoga for several years I began to notice a real change in my LIFE due to my Yoga practice. I felt calmer in spirit. I experienced better mental focus and concentration on day to day tasks, and my body was stronger and healthier than ever before. I came to realize the practice of Yoga made these positive changes happen, and I wanted to share this experience with others. The benefits of Yoga can be experienced by everyone, regardless of age, body size, or level of flexibility! Yoga is the gift you give to your spirit.”

About Julie:

At age 18 Julie Franklin began her study of Hatha yoga. Throughout college and early adulthood, she continued classes with a variety of teachers and styles. Her love for yoga ignited a passion for mind-body healing. This passion manifested in a variety of ways: Studying and becoming certified as an acupressure therapist, beginning a meditation practice, and taking Craniosacral Therapy classes. Later her quest drew her to India and Thailand. In Rishikesh India she studied yoga in an ashram for five months. On the same trip she became a Reiki Master and learned the basics of Thai massage.

After returning from India, Julie took an Anusara yoga teacher training class. Julie then spent many years teaching yoga classes in the Bay Area and working as a massage therapist. Julie has now relocated to the Penn Valley/Grass Valley area and teaches yoga on Monday and Thursday at 9:15 a.m. She also offers massage/bodywork treatments in the Dragonfly Studio.
